Jean Moulin, sous l’action conjuguée de l’histoire et de la mémoire, s’est mué en héros national. 80 ans après sa mort, le CHRD présente une exposition invitant à (re)découvrir l’homme à travers ceux qui l’ont connu ou étudié : ses proches, des témoins, ses partisans – nombreux – comme ses détracteurs.&nbsp;Dans l'exposition, photos, vidéos, documents et objets personnels permettent de dessiner une image vivante et chaleureuse de Jean, bien loin de l’icône presque désincarnée, trop souvent convoquée dans l’imaginaire collectif.Nul doute que la personnalité vibrante de force et de courage de ce grand homme accompagnera les visiteurs dans leurs engagements citoyens, pour une société plus juste et plus libre.

Ook de bevolking van de aanliggende Duitse dorpen als Wyler, Kranenburg, Nütterden, Donsbrüggen en de stad Kleve moesten vluchten voor het oorlogsgeweld. Verwijderd van huis en haard werd Kerstmis in een vreemde omgeving en onder moeilijke omstandigheden gevierd. Onzeker over wat komen zou, maar hopend op een betere toekomst. Een bijbelse verwijzing ligt hierbij voor de hand: ook Jozef en Maria moesten vluchten.Met de twee concerten, in Nederland en Duitsland, wordt hier muzikaal bij stilgestaan met prachtige advents- en kerstliederen in verschillende talen. De pastoors Christoph Scholten (pastoor van Kranenburg, Niel, Wyler, Zyfflich) en Aloys van Velthoven (pastoor van Groesbeek) zullen de gespeelde muziekstukken afwisselen met korte ooggetuigenverslagen over de evacuatie in 1944, zowel van Nederlandse als Duitse zijde.

How did Adolf Hitler, the leader of an antidemocratic and racist party, come to power? Why did democracy fail? What led to racial and social exclusion, war, and mass murder? Can we learn from the catastrophe of National Socialism? These are questions that historians have been considering for decades, and they remain just as relevant and just as important today. They are questions that concern all of us. To find answers, Munich is a good place to start—after all, this is the city where National Socialism originated. Located on a <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.nsdoku.de/en/historic-site">historic site</a>, the Munich Documentation Center addresses the city’s past and seeks to explain the phenomenon of National Socialism. Why Munich? In a space occupying around 1000 square meters the exhibition Munich and National Socialism elucidates the established historical facts about the founding and the rise of the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (NSDAP) in Munich. It explains the special role the city played in the Nazi dictatorship’s reign of terror and the difficulty the city has had in dealing with this history since 1945. It also raises the question: “What does this have to do with me?”

Munich and National Socialism

When Germans and Soviets overran Poland in September 1939, thousands of Polish soldiers, sailors, and airmen managed to escape to the Western Allies. Eventually in 1940 Polish Government-in-Exile signed an agreement with Britain to form Polish squadrons alongside the units of the Royal Air Force. Eventually a number of fighter, bomber, and utility units were formed. One of them was No. 318 “City of Gdańsk” Fighter-Reconnaissance Squadron.The squadron was formed in March 1943 in Britain, and was earmarked to support the 2nd Corps of the Polish Army, which was being organized then in the Middle East, largely from the former deportees and Gulag prisoners evacuated from the Soviet Union. The squadron joined the 2nd Corps during the Italian Campaign, taking part in the battles of Monte Cassino, Ancona, Rimini and Bologna. After the war Polish forces in the West were demobilized, but a large number of the personnel could not returned to Poland, which was liberated from the Nazi occupation, but enslaved under Soviet Communist rule.The exhibit features a large number of rarely displayed photographs and items from private and museum collections, including uniforms, documents, every-day objects, and the like. The exhibit is bilingual, Polish and English.

Die Werke sind Ergebnisse unterschiedlicher kreativer Herangehensweisen – sie sind Dokumentation, Gedenken, und Ausdruck von Trauer und Wut; zudem finden sich Arbeiten, die sich auf Rituale fokussieren, oder die politisierte Darstellungen von Ereignissen und Individuen und Manipulationen des kollektiven Gedächtnisses in den Blick nehmen.&nbsp;Die Künstler*innen Zuzanna Hertzberg, Elżbieta Janicka &amp; Wojciech Wilczyk, Paweł Kowalewski, Agnieszka Mastalerz, Natalia Romik, Wilhelm Sasnal, sowie Artur Żmijewski &amp; Zofia Waślicka-Żmijewska widmen sich der Vielzahl an Lücken und Leerstellen sowohl materieller wie auch immaterieller Art, die der Verlust der nahezu gesamten jüdischen Bevölkerung Polens erzeugt hat. Der Titel der Ausstellung verweist auf die Konfrontation mit den wenigen materiellen Beweisen der in der Vergangenheit verübten Verbrechen – den Überbleibseln singulärer Leben, die nicht wieder gelebt und belebt werden können und deren Identifikation.
