The Diary of Sophia Kruip

Sophia (Fie) Kruip lived here during the war. She kept a diary in six small notebooks, starting on 10 May 1940 and ending on 8 May 1945.

After her death in 1985, her family discovered the notebooks among her belongings and donated them to the Lichtenvoorde Antiquarian Society. Based on these writings, the book Het oorlogsdagboek van Fie Kruip (The War Diary of Fie Kruip) was compiled. This diary offers a unique perspective on the wartime period. How did ordinary people feel? What did they experience?
