#Exhibition - France

Temporary exhibition "France liberated by its Empire - Colonial combatants in the Second World War".

9/11/2023

12/12/2023

Between 1939 and 1945, several hundred thousand citizens from the colonial empire and overseas territories fought and contributed to the Liberation of mainland France.

These stories, with their different origins and status, have long been forgotten. Nevertheless, these men and women have one thing in common: they came from elsewhere and wanted to serve a certain idea of France. At the heart of Mont-Valérien, the national place of remembrance of the Second World War, (re)discovers their story, and the long road towards recognition of their commitments and sacrifices.
