Historic army vehicles at the Freedom Museum

9/19/2024

9/21/2024

On Thursday, Sept. 19, Friday, Sept. 20 and Saturday, Sept. 21, various collections of historic vehicles will be on display on the outdoor grounds of the Freedom Museum.

On Thursday, Sept. 19, these are the Royal Artillery and the Princess Irene Brigade of the XXX Corps Military Remembrance Convoy. They will make a stop at the museum between 10:20 and 11:40. These unique vehicles will be driven by participants dressed in authentic uniforms and equipment, many of them descendants of the soldiers who gave their lives for our freedom here. It will be as if an old black-and-white photograph comes to life.

On Friday, Sept. 20, 30 to 40 vehicles from the RCKL's traveling collection will fill the parking lot in front of the museum, supplemented by vehicles from various other museums and private collections. They are expected to arrive around noon and remain until approximately noon Saturday. This collection is displayed only at certain times, normally they are in storage in barracks, scattered around the country. There they are lovingly and diligently maintained by a small Army unit and a large team of enthusiastic volunteers. On all three days, the museum grounds are open to visitors to admire the vehicles.
