9/25/2023

As part of the 79th anniversary of the liberation of the Rijk van Nijmegen during Operation Market Garden in September 1944, the Freedom Museum is organising a lively Freedom Market on 24 September. There is lots to do and experience for young and old!

To see and do:

  • Free Market: take your place with your rug around the Freedom Museum and sell your goodies. You may also perform with theatre or music yourself.

  • Live music performances by the Bill Baker's Big Band.

  • Visit the exhibition Double Spy.

  • Various children's activities: including Freedom Skirts crafts and pavement chalk drawings.

  • Living Statues of Freedom.

  • Radio show with transmitting equipment from WW2.

  • Highlight tours (45 min) through the permanent exhibition for adults and children.

  • Activities around current events in Ukraine: visit the Ukrainian ambulance, the Russian tank and the badly damaged nameplate of Bakhmut Train Station 1.

  • Have your picture taken in the time of the past and take a seat in front of the Green Screen.

  • Second-hand books WW2 for sale.

  • Exciting fieldtrips by Grateful Generation Tours in an authentic WW2 Willy's MB (2 to 3 people) along the battlefields of Market Garden.

  • Food trucks and other catering.
