Coventry Police Museum

The Coventry Police Museum has several displays detailing Police actions during the Second World War in the city. These include stories, photographs and medals awarded to members of the Police who received gallantry awards and recognition during the Blitz.

The Coventry Police Museum first opened in 1957, at Little Park Street, now Coventry Central Police Station. It closed in 2020, but West Midlands Police Museum supported a ‘pop up’ museum as part of Coventry’s UK City of Culture celebrations.

Now the museum has found a new, permanent home at the Coventry Council House. This building was damaged during the Blitz and shrapnel marks and damage can still be found on the exterior.

It is staffed by a team of volunteers, many of them retired Coventry Police Officers. They’re happy to answer any questions and tell you stories from their service.

The museum holds a small archive, and it is advisable to contact them in advance for access to stories and artefacts that may not be on display. Check the website for opening hours.
