The plaque is located to the rear of the memorial through the small passage in the middle.​

Maple Leaves are placed across the memorial, a note to the national tree of Canada that is now symbolic.​

​Pointing back in the direction of the Canadian port from which volunteers left to come to Europe.​

​​The memorial is located a short walk into the park from Canada Gate and Buckingham Palace.&nbsp;​The narrow walkway, dividing the memorial in two, faces the direction of the Canadian port of Halifax in Nova Scotia. It was from there that many Canadian service personnel sailed for Europe during the two wars.&nbsp;​The bronze leaves embedded in the granite are maple, the national symbol of Canada. The designer was Quebec artist, Pierre Granche.​&nbsp;
