Staged reading in English (with German subtitles)
A public, staged reading of the new Jewish play ALL THE BEASTS OF THE EARTH.
The play explores the complexities of Jewish identity in the post-Holocaust diaspora, focusing on a Jewish-American brother and sister who return to Germany to trace their ancestry and come to terms with their Holocaust history. Their journey leads to an unexpected encounter with two German sisters who discover their own hidden Jewish ancestry, creating a dialog about the loss of Jewish life and community in Germany. The reading will be presented in English (with German surtitles) with parts in German and reflects the turmoil of German-Jewish existence in the post-war period. The reading will be followed by a discussion with experts and the audience to explore the play and its themes in greater depth.
