Movie "Krieg am Niederrhein"

2/18/2024

3/24/2024

The Freedom Museum will do a series of film screenings of the classic film 'Krieg am Niederrhein' in February and March 2024. A great 'monument', this film deals with the Rhineland Offensive, the Allies' massive assault on the Lower Rhine from the Region Rijk van Nijmegen. From the start of Operation Veritable on 8 February 1945 to the crossing of the Rhine at Wesel on 23/24 March 1945.

The still in fine condition German film 'Krieg am Niederrhein', supplemented by footage of Allied war correspondents, thrillingly depicts the attack on the Rhineland, in which, according to the latest data, almost half a million Allied soldiers took on the German defences on 8 February 1945. In six weeks, this number grew to an Allied force of more than 1 million soldiers! The crossing of the Rhine marked the beginning of the end of the Thrid Reich.
