Antitank wall at Midden Heerenduin

As a means to block tanks, a long wall was constructed at Midden-Herenduin in the context of the Atlantikwall.

In the nature reserve of Midden-Herenduin lies the remains of an anti-tank wall, which once formed part of the defensive structures. The wall stands near an anti-tank ditch a little further on; in this area, it was the most effective way to reinforce the Atlantikwall. Anti-tank walls like this one sometimes had barbed wire on top, but their main purpose was to block advancing tanks.

The remnants of the wall are still visible today, though nature has largely taken over the site.
